As a lifelong wrestling fan, Sara Amato doggedly turned her childhood passion into a highly successful career. Fighting an uphill battle in a male-dominated industry, she earned international acclaim for her expert skill inside the ring, though it didn’t happen overnight.
Trained by former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan, Amato was considered one of the sport’s best-kept secrets for years, winning championships throughout independent circuits in the U.S. and abroad as “Death Ray” Sara Del Ray. Along the way, she became a pillar of the global women’s wrestling scene, a sage veteran who inspired all who shared a locker room with her.
Amato retired from competition to join the WWE coaching staff in 2012. As the first female trainer in the history of WWE’s Developmental System, she has been a major catalyst behind the Women’s Evolution in WWE. Intent on propelling women’s wrestling to even greater heights, Amato continues to instill an inexhaustible work ethic into the next generation of fierce Superstars.
