Having competed and trained for more than 25 years in various wrestling styles, countries and organizations, Norman Smiley knows sports-entertainment like few others. A former high school wrestling standout, Smiley was mentored for the pro ranks by the legendary Great Malenko and quickly grew into the role of wrestling chameleon, able to adapt to whatever was thrown his way.
Whether exchanging strikes and submissions in the hard-hitting rings of Japan, mastering the utterly unique style of Mexican lucha libre or delighting WCW audiences as the memorable “Screamin’ Norman” during the Monday Night War, Smiley always captured the imagination of fans. A member of WWE’s coaching staff since 2007, Smiley has had a hand in training many of WWE’s top Superstars, from Roman Reigns to Big E. With a scientific wrestling skill that is second to none, Smiley continues to share his expertise with prospects at the WWE Performance Center.
